Private Jetting for a Cause

Private Jetting for a CauseIn 2011 there were a number of private jet companies and owners that used their success and fortune to do good throughout the world. If you are lucky enough to have a private jet of your own, you may consider doing something like this in the coming year, and don’t forget, if for no other reason, you can always write it off on your tax returns.

Toys for Tots Hangar Party

In Chandler, AZ, Chandler Air service hosted the 20th annual Toys for Tots Hangar Party on December 9,2011. Over 1,500 toys were collected and given to local families in need. You can do this kind of thing locally, whether or not you actually own a private jet.

Wings of Mercy

Wings of Mercy offers pilots and private jets for those suffering from life threatening conditions. Chris Boes of Michigan is currently suffering from a life threatening brain tumor and uses Wings of Mercy to get to and from his Durham, N.C. treatments.

Wings of Hope and Aerobridge

These two corporations donate jets for relief groups to respond to medical and natural disasters such as the Haitian Tsunami of 2010. Wings of Hope has also used it’s private jets to respond to women and children in need in the remote nomad villages of Africa and additional third world countries and nations. The need for help is never done.

There are also private jet pilots such as Butch Bejna that are concerned with the dying lack of interest in flying and want to encourage children to become interested again in the world and flying. Butch himself has taken over 1,700 children for a ride in the sky to encourage an interest in flying. Of these 1,700, 10 have become pilots.

There are of course many more things you can do for good, especially if you have your own private jet. Make a Wish may offer some great opportunities to get involved as well as other non-profit organizations.

Also, if you are someone looking to be a medical volunteer during natural disasters, such as the Tsunami listed above, visit http://www.aerobridge.org/ or http://www.wings-of-hope.org/ to join in the efforts.
